1. Great scenery. Trains carry you by cities, towns, lakes, countryside, castles, and more. The first time I saw the Alps was on a train from Italy to Germany. It was so breathtaking that I will never forget that train ride.

2. More space and comfort. Oh how I hate the cramped quarters and dry, stale air on airplanes. Trains usually offer a much nicer environment, including more leg room, better air, and more opportunity to move around and get your blood flowing.

3. No baggage hassles. Not only do you not have to wait for your baggage on arrival, but you aren’t subject to ridiculous security constraints when packing your bags. Think you’ll get thirsty on the train? Bring some water. What a novel concept.

4. No security lines. No need to arrive an hour or two before your train departs. Saves time and hassle!

5. Convenience. Train stations are usually easier to get to than airports, and more centrally located in cities.

6. Comparable time and cost for short trips. Not only does train travel have all the above benefits, but depending on the train type and your destination, it may be the cheaper and faster option, if you consider door-to-door travel.

7. More destinations. In Europe, trains go almost everywhere!
